“Quality Learning and Superior Performance for All.” – Forsyth County Schools motto

Forsyth County Schools, a Georgia public school district, is a uniquely forward-thinking, technology-favoring school system. They serve 50,000 students and employ over 6,500 staff, and they’re growing quickly.

What really stands out about Forsyth? The community is as pro-technology as they are pro-education, and it’s easy to understand how simply by dropping by their website. One of the first things you see is their vision: It’s clear that Forsyth is a rapidly expanding district that’s earned a great deal of support from the community, and for good reason. Their list of accomplishments and accolades is long, and leadership has put a tremendous amount of effort into strategic planning all the way through 2022. A Unique Extension of Traditional Curriculum: The Alliance Academy for Innovation

Forsyth doesn’t achieve innovation just through technology but delivers a diverse range of learning opportunities for students beyond the standard K-12 curriculum. The county operates the Alliance Academy for Innovation offering career and college subjects. Here, high school students have the chance to learn about aerospace engineering, cybersecurity, emergency medicine and more—and even earn college credits and industry certifications. The Alliance Academy mission is to provide pathways for students to own their futures across college, career planning, and life overall.

The Alliance Academy is Forsyth’s seventh high school. Students complete Georgia high school graduation requirements while participating in real-world experiences of work environments and internships. The academy has established five distinct schools, and each is aligned to a Career and Technical Student Organization: DECA, FRC, HOSA, FBLA, SkillsUSA, and TSA.

  1. School of Aerospace & Logistics
  2. School of Criminal Justice & Law
  3. School of Healthcare & First Responders
  4. School of Hospitality & Design
  5. School of Mechatronics & Energy

Combining Tailored Curriculum with Technology

Forsyth Country Schools has made a significant investment in technology to improve the learning experience for students and diversify lesson plan delivery for teachers. For instance, every classroom in the district is equipped with Clear Touch Interactive panels, which make it easy for teachers to provide a fluid, yet dynamic and engaging learning experience. In addition, the operations infrastructure is digital, including HVAC, LED remote-controlled lighting in all facilities, and network-connected locks.

A quick glance at their network environment shows the level of connectivity this pro-tech district relies on:

  • 50,000 students
  • 6,500 staff
  • 37 schools
  • 4,659 access points

At Forsyth County Schools the network really isn’t just about the technology it supports so much as the students, teachers, and staff who rely on that technology. Education is such a critical part of our future; it prepares tomorrow’s leaders for their own paths and challenges. Forsyth has made a noteworthy effort to combine different styles of learning with technology innovations to enable the best possible learning outcomes.

The Forsyth County Schools case study describes the full scope of the Forsyth infrastructure for educational innovation throughout their facilities, Alliance Academy for Innovation included.
